serious problem."
Heather Murphy Monteith, a
Philadelphia mom, came up with the
idea for Baby Loves Disco in 2004. She
soon found a partner in Andy Hurwitz
of Ropeadope Records, and he helped
move the party into other cities.
Baby Loves Disco parties, reaching
from New York to San Diego, also are
popping up in the United Kingdom.
Dwoskin, who teaches at Gotta
Dance in West Bloomfield, likes the
freestyle of disco and the suggested
list of music made available to local
DJs.
"It's a way of expressing oneself,
being creative and having fun," says
Dwoskin, 36, who is married to mar-
keting specialist Jeff Dwoskin and is
the mother of Sophie, 8, and Emma,

5. "We have businesses that
participate as sponsors, and
moms will be able to get
chair massages during their
breaks from dancing."
Hirsch and Dwoskin,
members of Temple Israel,
decided to have the parties
in Ferndale because they
thought of it as a central
location that could attract
people from throughout the
metro area. They picked the
facility because it can hold
500 partygoers with space
adaptable to attendees' needs, such as
a diaper-changing station.
"We believe families will feel com-
fortable stepping up to dance and tak-
ing part in the other activities:' says
Hirsch, who explains that there will
be bubble machines and other attrac-
tions to add to the fun of the music.
"Parents can meet other parents, and
kids can meet other kids." ❑
