Melt
Their
Hearts

Woo your sweetie with
luscious chocolate treats.

STYLED AND WRITTEN BY ANNABEL COHEN

PHOTOGRAPHS BY ANGIE BAAN

Chocolate just makes most people — OK, women — feel good. But there's also a remarkable bonus to chocolate
desserts: They're so very simple to prepare.
Of course, like any comestible, success is related directly to quality of ingredients. Skimp on excellence, and you do a
disservice to your end result. For best results, look at the cocoa butter content of the chocolate — it should be the first
ingredient on the label, and there should be no other fat.
And remember, if you bake it, melt it or dish it up, they will come — and eat.

Chocolate Spoons
11/2 cups semisweet chocolate, chopped or chips

12

Clean, dry demitasse or teaspoons

Line a baking sheet with parchment or wax paper. Set aside.
Place chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl. Cook on high for two minutes and stir until smooth. Working quickly,
dip the spoons in the chocolate and place the spoons, bowl-sides down. Allow to cool at room temperature until
the chocolate re-hardens. Makes 12 dipped spoons.
