She was a gradu- ate of Highland Park Junior College and a fifth-generation mem- Jacobs ber of Congregation Shaarey Zedek, where she was committed to sisterhood activi- ties. She also actively supported numer- ous charitable organizations including the Jewish Theological Seminary and Hadassah as a proud fourth-generation life member. Mrs. Jacobs was a master bridge player, a talented knitter and was accomplished at needlepoint. Family and friends enjoyed her labors of love; she delighted them with gifts of her beautiful hand- made sweaters, personalized tallit bags, pillows and framed needlepoint. She celebrated her Judaism: making Shabbat, attending services and having the whole family for holiday dinners. SARA KIRZNER, 90 of Windsor, Ontario, died Jan. 1, 2008.A life- long community build- er, she held leadership positions in numerous Jewish organizations including Hadassah, Kirzner ORT and a 60-year involvement with JNE Named after the biblical Sara, she was true to her namesake, opening her home to all. Her dedication to her synagogue, energy and enthusiasm extended to everything she touched, especially her family. Known affectionately as Grandma Sara, she was the beloved wife of the late Irving Kirzner.
