IRENE SUCHER BADER, 84, of West
Bloomfield, died Dec. 20, 2007.
She was a board member of Juvenile
Diabetes Research Foundation, Jewish
Women's Foundation and a life member of
Hadassah.
Mrs. Bader is survived by her hus-
band, Martin Bader; daughter, Jill Bader
of Washington; son and daughter-in-law,
Charles Bader and Lois Safdie of Oregon;
grandchildren, Abraham McClurg and
Christy Matson, Katharine and David
Anderson, Liliana Greenberg; brother and
sister-in-law, Donald and Shirley Sucher of
Kentucky; brother-in-law, Max Wayburn.
She was the loving sister of the late
Shirley Sucher Cohen Wayburn, the late
Gerald Sucher; dear sister-in-law of the late
Jean Sucher and the late Bernard M. Cohen.

NORMAN BENDIX, 91,
of Southfield, died Dec.
23, 2007. Born on Feb. 14,
1916 in Lawrence, Mass.,
he spent his youth in the
greater Boston area.
Norman was a gradu-
ate of Tufts University,
Bendix
where he earned a degree
in engineering. He fur-
thered his post-graduate education at the
Massachusetts Institute of Technology with
a certification in metallurgy for the emerg-
ing engineering field of powdered metals.
After completing his education, he
moved to New York and joined the Sperry
Corporation in Lake Success, Long Island.
At Sperry, he worked alongside some of the
nation's leading scientists on the Sperry
Gyroscope, a marine navigation device
instrumental in furthering the United
States' World War II war effort. Following
Sperry, he was employed as a metallurgist
at General Electric. Among his responsibili-
ties, he traveled the country, lecturing fellow
engineers on metallurgical practices.
In 1947, he married native Detroiter
Lucille Edelson and shortly thereafter
relocated to Detroit where he joined his
father-in-law, Emil Edelson, and his brother-
in-laws Sam Solomon, Harold Edelson and
George Must in the retail furniture business
and in the establishment of the Wyandotte
Investment Group.
For several decades, Norman owned and
operated his own furniture store, Eureka
Bedrooms, and his business acumen even-
tually led to his appointment as the presi-

dent of the Detroit Furniture Club. He was
also part owner of Shenendoah Country
Club.
Norman was a member of the Boca
Pointe Country Club for more than 20 years
and actively supported numerous charitable
organizations including the UJA and the
American Cancer Society.
He was the beloved husband of Lucille
Bendix; father of the late Dr. Stephen
(Lauren) Bendix; Carol (Michael ) Allen;
Judi Thurswell (Dr. Joel) Miller; grandfather
of Jeffrey (Courtney) Allen; David Allen;
Jeremy and Lindsey Thurswell; Brooke,
Scott, Jason and Matthew Bendix; brother of
Freida Kates and the late Marion Shulman.
He was the brother-in-law of Roz and
Don Levey, the late George Must, Elaine and
the late Harold Edelson, the late Lillian and
the late Sam Solomon.
Interment at Clover Hill Park Cemetery.

Shalom Synagogue in Farmington Hills and
previously, Congregation Beth Achim in
Southfield.
Mr. Farber is survived by his son and his

Laurie and Jack Myers of Philadelphia,
