Marc Manson will offer a seven-ses- sion class at the synagogue beginning Thursday, Jan. 10, at 7 p.m. The first two sessions are a "Genealogy 101" class that will show that records of your ancestors do exist — they were not all destroyed in the Holocaust. The next two classes will focus on "Resources and Research Techniques." The final sessions will address 'Advanced Research and Problem Solving Techniques." Manson will demonstrate examples online, but one does not need to bring a computer to class. There is a $72 fee per participant, $36 of which will pay for a one- year membership in the Jewish Genealogical Society of Michigan and the remainder to cover the cost of handouts and printed materials. A couple's fee is $122. The classes will continue on Jan. 17, 24, 31 and Feb. 14, 21, 28. On one Sunday morning, there will be a field trip to the Holocaust Memorial Center Library in Farmington Hills, where par- ticipants will be shown how to use the resources there to do family history and genealogy research.
