Chase away the chill with cozy-chic knit hats
and scarves for the whole family from locally
operated Broner Inc. — family-run since
the 1920s, when Harry Broner began selling
protective hats, gloves and aprons to the
Ford auto workers who walked past his fam-
ily home in Detroit on their way to work. Set
to celebrate its 75-year anniversary, Broner
is a worldwide corporation but still family-
run — its Auburn Hills headquarters is head-
ed by fourth-generation family members Bob
Broner and his sister Stephanie Miller. Men's
beanie (above; $11.99), at Harry's Army
Surplus, Dearborn (313-565-6605); kids' set
(above, right; hat: $15/scarf: $18) and wom-
en's blue hat with red trim (below, right; $15),
