A Bridge To Judaism

No matter what the size of your
gift, with your help we can do
more. Jewish Apartments &
Services reports a doubling in
the number of older adults who
are in need of subsidies to live
in their apartments, and the
waiting list is growing.

Gesharim is an ongoing, education-
al, support and discussion group
for people who have converted, are
in the process of conversion, are
involved in interfaith relationships
or are simply born Jews seeking
to learn more about their religion.
Sessions are taught at no charge
by West Bloomfield's Temple Israel
clergy and Jewish educators.
The group will meet 7 p.m.
Thursday, Dec. 13, to discuss
Shabbat. It also meets 7 p.m.
Thursday, Jan. 10, to cover "The
Jewish Home and Tu b'Shevat.”

If it weren't for her mother's loss of appetite and lapses in
memory, perhaps Mrs. S. would never have identified herself
as someone who needed help from the Jewish community.
Fortunately, with just one call to Federation's ElderLink, she
found answers and connections to a network of agencies that
deliver a broad range of services sensitized to the needs of
older adults and their families.

In ways you may never know or predict, your gift to the
Jewish Federation adds strength to our community, because
it goes to support 19 local agencies, including Jewish Home
& Aging Services. From a friendly voice on the phone, to
counseling and services to help seniors age with grace and
dignity, Federation works to benefit everyone it touches.

Healing Service

Adat Shalom Synagogue in
Farmington Hills will hold a heal-
ing service 7:30 p.m. Thursday,
Dec. 13.
Led by Rabbi Herbert A.
Yoskowitz and Cantor Frank
Lanzkron-Tamarazo, it is designed
for those who seek greater spiri-
tuality or have concerns related to
grief, physical or emotional illness
or change.
