WillowaYglYw eks. Best Summer Ever! (v, A: Great Question. The specialists come with different backgrounds that fit with the experience needed to be in their positions. Last year, we brought five amaz- ing and talented staff from Israel. They ran our Israeli Culture, Arts and Crafts, Ropes, Nature and one of our Traditional Camp units. We find the most qualified staff to make your summer fun. Many are teachers during the year and some are studying education in college right now. The first question I ask in every interview is, "Why do you want to work here?" Their answer has to be, "Because I really like working with kids!" Q: Can we have once-a-week sleepovers with the Sports Camps? Ryan Tokowitz, 9, of West Bloomfield A: Actually, this year our Outdoor Adventure Sports Camp will have a sleepover along with high ropes, mountain biking and canoeing. Don't miss it! Q: Is there one day at camp when we can bring our dogs? Samantha Green, 4, of Farmington Hills (owner of a new puppy, Cooper) A: I love puppies! I will have to check our American Camping Association regulations to see if we can have Cooper come and visit. Please send me a picture. Q: What are some of the new activities you have planned for camp this year? Ben Reinheimer, 10, of West Bloomfield A: You are in for a great treat! We made the teen travel camps new and improved. This year you will have a sleepover at Tamarack, only visit the greatest venues and so much more. You will be pleased to know we added Advanced Archery so you can continue "shooting" for that goal. We also have a brand new camp called Next Stage, an Idol Ready kind of camp that teaches stage presence and how to perform like a star. Q: What's the most challenging part of your job? Jared Char, 4, of Farmington Hills A: That's a hard question because I really love my job. I guess I hate it when I don't get thrown in the pool or don't have time to swim. As for chal- lenging, I worry when people are not happy. I want every single camper and parent to have a great summer experience with us. We make sure to do everything we can to make this happen so no one else needs to worry. 3, 4 & 7 week session for campers in grades 4-12 1-1/2 or 2-week "Explore Tavor" for new campers, 9-12 yrs old Ilabonlm-Dro Elizabeth Applebaum is a marketing specialist with the Jewish Community Center of Metropolitan Detroit.
