Robin Schwartz Special to the Jewish News S omething remarkable happened when 120 of the biggest young adult con- tributors to the Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Detroit gathered at the Bloomfield Hills home of Lauren and Phillip Fisher, the son and daughter-in- law of the late Franklin philanthropist and community leader Max Fisher. An impromptu pledging session began after YAD president Brad "Bubba" Urdan of West Bloomfield announced the under-40 crowd was just $15,000 shy of raising $1 million for Federation's 2008 Annual Campaign. Urged on by Federation CEO Robert Aronson of Bloomfield Hills, the group quickly secured the $15,000 needed to reach a new milestone. "The best campaign year we ever had for YAD was when we raised $785,000," Urdan said. "Now, we're going to be over $1 million! Every gift adds up and it's important that everyone in the community participates." The group came together Nov. 7 for the fourth annual Heritage Event, a cocktail and hors d'oeuvres reception for young adults who make an individual campaign gift of $3,000 or more, or a family gift of $5,000 or more. "My father left us a great responsibility and obligation," Phillip Fisher told the crowd. "The future is all about you and what you can do to fill the void of leaders who are no longer here." Heritage event co-chairs were Nikki and Mike Raimi of Birmingham, Debbie and Steve Karr of West Bloomfield, and Nancy and Michael Stone of Huntington Woods. Also spotted in the crowd were: Laura and David Gorosh, Lindsay and Jon Citrin, Regina and Darren Colton, and Sharon and Eric Goodman, all of Birmingham; The next YAD event is Latke & Debbie and Robb Lippitt, Gene Vodka, 8 p.m. Dec. 8 at Centaur Bar, Goodman and Wendy Eisenshtadt, 2233 Park Ave., Detroit.
