Strausz, son
of Brenda and
Richard Strausz
of Southfield,
received his Ph.D.
in political sci-
ence from the
University of
Washington.

Harvey Yates of Birmingham was
honored by the Association of
Fundraising Professionals on Nov.
15 at the National Philanthropy Day
Dinner. He was presented with the
Distinguished Volunteer Award for
his outstanding efforts on behalf of
many organizations. His is a past
president of the Detroit Medical
Center Guild as well as the Detroit
Executive Association and con-
tinues to serve on their boards of
directors. He is also active with the
100 Club of Detroit, the Michigan
Opera Theatre and the Oakland
County Sherrif's Advisory Council.
He previously was involved with
the Arthritis Foundation.

Lois Shaevsky of Bloomfield Hills
received the
2007 George W.
Romney Award
for Lifetime
Achievement in
Volunteerism.
The award was
presented at
the Association
of Fundraising
Professionals
Greater Detroit Chapter National
Philanthropy Day on Nov. 15.
Shaevsky was nominated by
Oakland University for the award.
She serves on the Rochester-based
university's advisory board and is
on the committee planning a fund-
raiser for the recently implemented
Judaic studies program.
