The fast-paced family card game
Ruckus was developed by Illinois
inventor Dan Levy by adding
fun, colorful characters to
rectangular shaped cards.
He tested it out on his then
10-year-old daughter Sophia.
The simple rules involve creat-
ing — and stealing from opponents
— sets of two or more matching cards. The name Ruckus fits the game
because everyone plays at the same time, with points based on cards accumulated.
Each hand takes only about three to four minutes.
Levy manufactures the game — which has won multiple awards — through
his own company, Funstreet Inc. It sells in more than 1,500 toy stores nation-
wide, including Warren Say Mor Prescriptions in Farmington Hills. Ruckus was
created for everyone from age 7 and older, but Nori Klar of Warren's said it is
"a fun card game, especially for boys who don't like to sit and play games much.
There aren't many games where you can sit a 6-year-old, a teenager, a parent and
a grandparent around the same table and they all have a great time.
"My employees play Ruckus at home with their families and love it, so we're
all very excited when we explain the game to customers."
Price: $9.99.

Developed by Floridian Jon Kaweblum, the
"lipped kippah" is just that: a clip and a
kippah in one. Kaweblum, a boys' varsity
basketball coach and athletic director in
Boca Raton, created the headwear after the
kippot worn by his students flew onto the
court during play.
Each kippah has a pair of small,
plastic combs, similar to the kind found
in women's wigs, sewn inside. The clips
secure the kippah to the head more firmly
than conventional clips or bobby pins and
because they are stitched inside the kippah,

The Florida High School Athletic As-
sociation, which ruled that metal clips often
used to hold kippot in place are not permitted to be worn during play, recently
approved klipped kippahs for wear during sporting events.
Kaweblum, a 26-year-old architecture student, runs the new business from his
parents' home, employing three seamstresses. flipped kippahs are avail-
able in a variety of styles (including sports motifs), colors and
materials (including suede, knit, denim, straw and velvet) and
can be custom ordered. "Klips" also can be added to kippot
not purchased through flipped Kippahs. Prices begin at
$11 with bulk orders discounted.
