Kadima Conference Set
Kadima, in association with Oakland
University School of Nursing, will host
an educational conference Friday, Nov.
16, at the Oakland Center at Oakland
University in Rochester.
The topic of the conference is "When
Mental Illness First Appears: Advocating
for Our Youth at Risk." The event will
begin at 8 a.m. with registration and
continental breakfast. Keynote speakers
and breakout sessions will address legal
and policy issues in the juvenile justice
system, resources in public schools for
youth at risk, depression and suicide
prevention and other issues regarding
mental illness and youth.
After lunch, the keynote speaker will
be Ross Szabo, director of youth out-
reach.

Visitors For Survivors
On Monday, Nov. 19, the next orienta-
tion session for the new Yad B'Yad
"Hand in Hand" program will be held
at the Jewish Community Center in Oak
Park.
Yad B'Yad provides friendly visitors
for Holocaust survivors living in the
Detroit metropolitan area who are feel-
ing isolated and alone.
Volunteers are asked to call either
Dr. Charles Silow of the Program for
Holocaust Survivors and Families,
(248) 661-2999, or Hilary Rotenberg of
Jewish Family Service, (248) 592-2300.
Advance reservations are required for
the Monday, Nov. 19, training session.
Also, those aware of a Holocaust
survivor who may benefit from having
a friendly visitor may contact Silow or
Rotenberg.

Business Talk Rescheduled
The Professional Advisory Committee
(PAC) and the Jewish Business
Leaders of the Jewish Federation of
Metropolitan Detroit have changed
the date for the upcoming "Popping a
Wheelie: The Turnaround of Ducati,"
featuring guest speaker David M. Gross.
Gross is creative director of Ducati
Motor Holding and author of Fast
Company: A Memoir of Life, Love and
Motorcycles in Italy.
The program will be held 7:30-9 a.m.
Tuesday, Nov. 20, at the Max M. Fisher
Federation Building, 6735 Telegraph
Road in Bloomfield Hills. Continental
breakfast will be served.
