Richard J. Mazurek
M.D. Medical Education
Commons, a 53,000-square-foot
building for Wayne State University's
medical school in Detroit, followed
nearly $25 million being raised in
support of the project from private
donors.
"This marks a monumental his-
toric occasion for the Wayne State
University School of Medicine
says Dr. Robert R. Frank, executive
vice dean for academic and student
programs at the medical school. "In
essence, we've run out of space and
this two-story building will elevate the
learning and teaching opportunities
for students and practicing physicians.
It will also serve as a model for other
medical colleges and provide a much
improved new public face and image
for the medical school."
A number of Jewish physicians have
made significant contributions to the
project. Dr. Hershel Sandberg and
his wife, Dorothy, were major donors,
