of architect Buckminster Fuller and sculptor-
designer Isamu Noguchi (left) stood as inspira-
tion for people in their fields as well as scholars
who documented their professional creativity and

ects will be noted in an exhibit, Best of Friends:
Buckminster Fuller and Isamu Noguchi, run-
ning Nov. 3-Jan. 15 at the Henry Ford Museum,

features rare documents, models and artifacts,
including Fuller's Dymaxion House, on perma-
nent display at the Henry Ford Museum, and the three-wheeled Dymaxion Car,

INSIDE STRATFORD Fans of the Stratford Festival of Canada can learn
about creating theatrical scenery and costumes during upcoming workshops
(top) conducted by John Pennoyer, who has been with the company for 25
years. Pennoyer brings his stage talents to the
Birmingham Bloomfield Art Center, 1516 S.
Cranbrook, Birmingham, where there will be two
workshops. Those ages 10-16 will attend 10-11:30
a.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, while others 17 and older will
meet 1-2:30 p.m. Pennoyer, who has worked on sets
for many kinds of productions, also has fashioned
costumes for diverse characters — from Cinderella
to Dracula to Viola in Twelfth Night (right).
These classes are part of a weeklong Michigan
residency in which Stratford staff members bring
elements of classical repertory theater to stages and

BOXED OUT More than 200 blank CDs in jewel
cases were sent to artists throughout the area by the Paint Creek Center for
the Arts. The kits were then returned as works of art to be used for an auction
to raise funds for the center. Creative participants could channel the materi-
als into drawings, paintings, collages, photos or digital images with the jewel
cases as frames. Those with multimedia orientations could create sound pieces,
