Jerry Naftaly will seek his ninth two-year term as
mayor. He has served 16 years as mayor and 30 years
total as a member of the city council. A 53 year resi-
dent of Oak Park, he serves on the city's recreation
board, planning commission and retirement board.
He also is on the board of directors of the Eight Mile
Boulevard
Association.

businesses together, stressing community participation and communi-
cation.
"We are experiencing millions of dollars in investments annually,
both in new and existing homes and businesses, including the future

homes, and a new condominium development on Coolidge, north of 8
Mile," Naftaly says. "We plan, shortly, to publicize the formation of a
new Oak Park Chamber of Commerce as well as concentrated efforts
on improvements and upgrades to our library."

Paul Levine will seek his first term as a council member. He is a 54-
year resident of Oak Park, currently serving as vice chair of the city's
Independence Day Commission.
Married to Sharon Landau, the Levines grew up in Oak Park and
raised their family of three daughters there.
Levine is committed to maintaining excellent services for city resi-
dents and businesses, while implementing ongoing improvements in
community involvement and communication among residents, govern-
ment, schools and the business community.

David Rogovein

Alan H. Kideckel is a candidate for city council. He finished second in
the mayoral race for a two-year term in 2005. After his wife, Andrea,
died in 1998, Kideckel co-founded Fighting For Victory, an organization
assisting patients, families and caregivers with health care issues. He
is on the executive committee of the Sinai Guild. In 2006, he received
its Most Distinguished Service Award.
In Berkley, Kideckel was publicity chair for the Berkley Gazebo
Historical Memorial Walk, helped raise money for the public safety pur-
chase of a thermo imager unit and served on the citizen committee.
He currently serves on the CruiseFest/Dream Cruise Committee and
chairs the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board. He chaired the com-
mittee that instituted the Berkley Buzz.
His goal is to promote the best interests of Berkley citizens and to
see that city government and tax expenditures are responsive to the
