She fled from turmoil in Turkey with her parents and siblings after World War I. She then lived in Rhodes and Athens, where she attended high school, before her family settled in Milan. She was expelled from Italy with her husband and son in 1938 because of anti- Semitic laws and risked expulsion from Bulgaria as a stateless person before find- ing refuge in the United States in 1940. Mrs. Zalman is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Marvin and Greta Zalman of Huntington Woods, and Benjamin and Denise Zalman of Brooklyn; grandchildren, Debbie Roope- Zalman, Amy Zalman, David Zalman and Seth Zalman; great-grandchildren, Benjamin and Hazel Rose. She was the loving wife of the late Harry Zalman. Interment in New Jersey.
