I Mazel Toy! Sept. 9 Jennifer and Paul Silverman of Franklin are thrilled to announce the birth of their son, Levi Morris (Levi Mordechai). Levi is named in loving memory of his paternal great-grandfather Morris Smith. Dara Paige Epstein was called to the Torah as a bat mitzvah on Saturday, Oct. 6, at Temple Shalom in Naples, Fla. Jeremy Randall-Aaron Fishman, son of Leslie and Jefrey Fishman, will be called to the Torah as a bar mitzvah on Saturday, Oct. 27, at Congregation Shaarey Zedek Southfield. Fishman Sharing in this simchah will be his sisters Allie and Jamie as well as grandparents Gloria Weissler and Arnold Weissler and Reta and Gordon Fishman. Jeremy is an eighth-grader at Hillel Day School of Metropolitan Detroit in Farmington Hills. His most meaningful mitzvah projects was volunteering to teach young children to play basketball with former Detroit Piston John Long as well as conducting a basketball fundraiser for juvenile rheumatoid arthritis. Gorman Jarrett Bryce Gorman was called to the Torah as a bar mitzvah on Saturday, Oct. 13, at Temple Beth El in Bloomfield Township. He is the son of Kevin and Marci Gorman and the brother of Amber. Sharing in this simchah were his grand- parents Marvin and Francine Solomon, Dr. John and Martha Gorman and Jack and Joan Priest. Jarrett is an eighth-grade student at Scripps Middle School in Lake Orion. His mitzvah projects include working at the Salvation Army to feed the hungry. Laurenne Elizabeth Ferber Kaufman will celebrate her bat mitz- vah on Friday, Oct. 26, at Congregation Beth Alum in West Bloomfield and on Saturday, Oct. 27, at the Shul in West Kaufman Bloomfield. She is the loving daughter of Shari (Ferber) and Alon Kaufman and wonder- ful sister of Daniel, Jonathan, Joshua and Natalie Rose Kaufinan. Proud grand- parents are Miriam and Fred Ferber of West Bloomfield and Halina and Szymon Kaufman of Tel Aviv, Israel. Laurenne is a student at Hillel Day School of Metropolitan Detroit in Farmington Hills. Her most meaningful mitzvah project is piloting a new program to secure funding for the indigent Holocaust survivors with the help of other third generation children in the Detroit metropolitan area. Jacob Lipnik of Farmington Hills will be called to the Torah as a bar mitzvah on Saturday, Oct. 25, at Congregation Shaarey Zedek Southfield. He is the son of Paula and Daniel Lipnik Lipnik and brother of Josh and Alex. Thrilled to share in the sim- chah are grandparents Lori and Carl Lipnik, Brenda and Barney Dales and Morty Pascoe. Jake is an eighth-grader at Warner Middle School in Farmington Hills. He found it meaningful to help fed the homeless through Shaarey Zedek's program. Allison Sarah McKee will celebrate her bat mitzvah Saturday, Oct. 27, at Temple Israel in West Bloomfield. She is the daughter of Natalie McKee and Roger McKee and the sister of Rebecca. Her grandparents, Tom McKee and Marie McKee, are very excited about the simchah. She is also the grand- child of the late Rena and Gerald Rosenfield. Allison attends Orchard Lake Middle School in West Bloomfield. Her participation at Camp Dakota, for children with arthritis, was her most meaningful mitzvah project. Mollie Megdall Hannah Magda!! Mollie Kate Megdall and Hannah Rose Megdall will share the bimah as they cel- ebrate their b'not mitzvah Saturday, Oct. 27, at Temple Israel in West Bloomfield. Sharing in the simchah will be their parents, Debbie and Stan Megdall, and brother Isaac. Proud grandparents are Adele and Dr. Stuart Megdall and Barbara Schwartz. The girls are also the grandchildren of the late Sidney Schwartz. Both girls attend Walnut Lake Middle School in Walled Lake. As her most mean- ingful mitzvah project, Mollie worked at the West Bloomfield-based Friendship Circle and plans to continue volunteering there. Al- so through the Friendship Circle program, Hannah helped in a child's home, as a com- panion, and felt this was a very important mitzvah project. Elana Sarah Price will be called to the Torah as a bat mitzvah at a Havdalah ceremony on Saturday, Oct. 27 at Congregation Beth Shalom in Oak Park. She is the daughter of Beverly and David Price Price. She is the grand- daughter of Nathan and Marilyn Peiss, Esther Price and the late Elliott Price. Elana is a student at Norup International School in Oak Park. Her most interesting mitzvah project included assisting in teach- ing yoga at Gilda's Club of Detroit. Allie Irene Ravid, daughter of Amy Mindell and Kevin Weinman and Lior Ravid, will cel- ebrate her bat mitzvah at Temple Israel in West Bloomfield Friday, Oct. 26. She is the sister of Eli and Ravid Devon, the grandchild of Judi and Bernard Mindell, Hana and Avraham Ravid and Joan and Ed Weinman and the great-grandchild of Mary Shapiro. She is also the great-grandchild of the late Sherman Shapiro and the late Irene and Karl Mindell. Allie is a student at Hillel Day School of Metropolitan Detroit in Farmington Hills. The mitzvah project she found most mean- ingful was volunteering at a JARC home. Leah Joy Roffman will read from the Torah on the occasion of her bat mitzvah during Havdalah service at Temple Israel in West Bloomfield Saturday, Oct. 27. Her parents are Roffman Lisa and Barry Roffman and her sister is Kristin. Sharing in the simchah will be her grandparents Donna Klar and Andrew Martin. She is also the grandchild of the late Murray Olit, the late Harriett Roffman, the late David Klar and the late Melvin Roffman. Leah attends Walnut Creek Middle School in Walled Lake. She started a char- ity called "Chores for Charity" that raises money for various organizations. She felt this was very meaningful as part of her mitzvah experience. Jacob Benjamin Ruby, together with his par- ents, Leslie and Dr. Alan Ruby, and his sisters Jayme and Lauren, will celebrate his bar mitz- vah at Havdalah ser- vices Saturday, Oct. 27, Ruby at Temple Israel in West Bloomfield. His grand- parents are Roz and Leon Levine and Linda and Dr. Robert Ruby and his proud great-grandmother is Belle Epstein. Jacob is a student at Bloomfield Hills Middle School. He organized a 5K Fun Run/Walk for Cystinosis with two of his friends and felt this was his most mean- ingful mitzvah project. Megan Rose Simmons will be called to the Torah as a bat mitzvah on Friday, Oct, 26, at Temple Shir Shalom in West Bloomfield. Sharing in her simchah will be her parents, Simmons Stacey and Michael Simmons, and sister Amanda. Her proud grandparents are Linda and Dr. Joseph Dobrusin and Ruth and George Simmons. Also participating in the excitement will be great-grandmother Ruth Ryshen. Megan is a student at Cranbrook Kingswood Middle School in Bloomfield Hills.
