n July 1, more than 40 friends
and relatives celebrated Sherwin
Vine's 90th birthday at Kruse
and Muer Restaurant in Troy. Among those
attending were kid sister Bernice (85) of
Chicago, son William, two nephews and a
niece. William, speaking in tribute to his
father, read a letter from a former Oakland
Circuit Court judge praising Sherwin's
efforts when he served as an assistant state
attorney general. Sherwin, a 36-year resident
of Birmingham, enjoys riding his bicycle
daily; he golfs and bowls several times a
week as well. He also delivers meals-on-
wheels as a volunteer and studies Talmud weekly with a group of colleagues.
