and 'poke me' from everyone around. Facebook is literally taking over my
school," said Rachael Pleasant, a ninth-grader at North Farmington High

School.
Here's a little Facebook lingo breakdown: "tag me" means share your pic-
ture with me if I'm in it, too; "add me" means add me as a friend; and "poke
me" is just a little game people like to play to let someone know they're think-

ing of them — or bugging them.
There are downsides to Facebook, some not well known. For example, one
thing many people don't know about Facebook is that when you submit ap-

working site.
So, it is important not to share any infor-
mation you would not want these official-type
people to see, including photographs. Use that
as a guideline for what you should post.
Another word of caution: Be careful about
adding people you don't know to Facebook or
MySpace. You never know who someone re-

ally is unless you actually know them.
Both sites have been linked to online pred-

ator cases, so exercise good judgment.

add the ones I know," said Caryn Zeitlin, a

junior at Walled Lake Western High School.
"As great as it may be to meet a new friend, I

would rather stay safe."
While Facebook is a great tool to keep in
touch with all of your friends, it also has some
drawbacks. Be careful; don't get
too addicted; and don't forget
that homework.

So many girls today don't

1. Only add people you know. This is a tool for you and your friends!

2. Don't go on it 24/7; it can become super-addicting!

3. Be careful about what you post; you never know who is looking!

4. Pictures can say 1,000 words; only post what you want others to see!
