United Call

House rebukes
Iran and Syria.

Washington

A

bipartisan congressional
resolution sharply criti-
cizes Iran and Syria for
violating U.N. resolutions against
supporting Hezbollah militias
in Lebanon. The Knollenberg-
Israel resolution has earned the
support of the American Israel
Public Affairs
Committee in
the wake of Iran
stepping up anti-
Israel rhetoric
and terrorist
tactics. It also
urges pressure
Rep.
on Hezbollah to
Knollenberg
release Israeli
soldiers Ehud
Goldwasser and Eldad Regev.
Resolution cosponsors are Reps.
Joe Knollenberg, R-Bloomfield
Township, and Steve Israel, D-N.Y.
"Iran and Syria need to be called
to task for supporting Hezbollah
terrorists in
Lebanon. Their
acts of aggres-
sion are in direct
violation of U.N.
resolutions (1559
and 1701) and are
'' - endangering the
Rep. Israel
national security
interests of our
friend and ally,
Israel," Knollenberg said.
"The Iranian dictator has stated
his desire to wipe Israel from
the face of the earth. It's time for
the international community to
take this terrorist at his word and
tighten pressure on his regime in
Tehran that is hell-bent on devel-
oping nuclear weapons!"
The sponsors said the civilized
world can't allow Iran and Syria
to wage state-sponsored jihad in
the Middle East. "If we don't step
up to this challenge," Knollenberg
said, "we very well could see a
hegemonic Iranian presence in the
Middle East that would endanger
free people everywhere around the
world." ❑

Your every last wish delightfully anticipated.
