Above: "It has become Sonia Kashuk's
mission to help women find their true inner
and outer beauty," says a representative
of Target, which will donate 100 percent
of the net proceeds of Kashuk's brush
sets, available throughout October, to the
Breast Cancer Research Foundation.

with supermodel (and former roommate)
Cindy Crawford — realized that the voice
she had used to educate women about
beauty could now be used to educate
women about breast cancer. She asked
Target, her retail partner since 1997 and a
"wonderfully philanthropic company," she
adds, for help.
"Target immediately was like, 'What
do you want to do?' " says Kashuk. They
decided on creating two cosmetics bags
and a brush set to be offered throughout
the month of October — National Breast
Cancer Awareness Month. One hundred
percent of the products' net proceeds
will benefit the Breast Cancer Research
Foundation, which was founded by breast-
cancer survivor Evelyn H. Lauder in 1993
as a nonprofit organization dedicated
to funding clinical and genetic research
— and which has had a relationship with
Target since 2004.
"It's wonderful to have a survivor as
part of this project," says Robbie Finke,
director of marketing for BCRF. "It
makes it so much more meaningful for
the consumer and the survivor population
as well. It puts the critical issue that much
closer to everyone's heart."
"I'm hoping everyone will go out
and buy something and we'll raise some
money," Kashuk says. "Breast cancer is
everywhere, and anything I can do to gen-
erate revenue to help the cause I would
like to do." ❑
