Kristian Zionists from the
United States will use the
international Christian
gathering of the Feast of Tabernacles
in Jerusalem to raise money for
Operation LifeShield, an Israeli non-
profit operation that is building pre-
fabricated 20- and 40-person bomb
shelters for installation across Israel.
The smaller shelters, which cost
$18,000 apiece, are for use at bus
stops. The larger shelters cost $36,000
and are for places such as schools and
retirement homes that lack shelters.
"It's one project for Jews and
Christians that we can all agree on
that's needed. You can't find faults. It's
the humanitarian thing to do:' said
Israel Always leader Earl Cox, who has
traveled in the South this summer to
raise money for the LifeShield shelters
Commitments to donate shelters have

come from churches, synagogues and
individuals. The Jewish Federation of
Greater Atlanta, for example, is buying
two bus-stop shelters.
During a stop in Augusta, where a
church pledged to buy two shelters,
a wage-earner woman who saw Cox
on television contributed a check for
$31,000. According to Cox, she said, "God
said for me to give my total savings."
In Charleston, S.C., a woman who
works two jobs for a living said she
wanted to meet with Cox to make a
donation. He expected perhaps $100;
he received $6,000.
It's that kind of individual excite-
ment Cox hopes to tap during the
Feast of Tabernacles, an annual
Christian celebration of Sukkot orga-
nized by the 27-year-old International
Christian Embassy Jerusalem, which
claims to be the largest Christian
Zionist organization in the world. It
works to fulfill the mandate of Isaiah
40:1 to comfort the Jewish people.
