Matthew is a student at Clifford
Smart Middle School in Walled Lake.
His most meaningful mitzvah project
was volunteering for the Lakes Area
Topps Soccer for children who are
mentally and physically challenged.

Jessica Ally
Leshman will be
called to the Torah
as a bat mitzvah on
Friday, Sept. 28, at
Temple Emanu-EI
in Oak Park. She is
the daughter of Liz
Leshman
and Barry Leshman
and sister of Joey
and Drew. Proud grandparents are
Sandra and Arnold Leshman. Jessica
is also the grandchild of the late
Rosalind and the late Richard Kahn.
Jessica is an eighth-grader at Norup
International School in Oak Park. For
her mitzvah project, she organized a
loose change campaign to help send
kids to camp.

Rothenberg, daugh-
ter of Cheryl and
Allan Rothenberg,
will be called to
the Torah as a
bat mitzvah on
Saturday, Sept. 29,
Rothenberg
at Temple Beth
El in Bloomfield
Township. Sharing in the simchah
will be her brother Brandon and
her grandparents Evelyn and Fred
Endelman of West Bloomfield and
Rosa and Seymour Rothenberg of
Walled Lake.
Carly is a student at Warner Middle
School in Farmington Hills. Her mitz-
vah project involved putting together
more than 200 goody bags for cancer
survivors and being on the team
"Kids Conquering Cancer" which
raised almost $7,000 for the American
Cancer Society.

Raquel Morgan Tabak and Liza
Samantha Tabak will share the bimah
at Temple Israel in West Bloomfield

Saturday, Sept. 29 as they celebrate
their b'not mitzvah. They are the
daughters of Ellen and Bruce Tabak
and the sisters of Alana and Adam.
Sharing in the simchah will be proud
grandparents Elihu and Muriel Brooks
and Jules Tabak. Raquel and Liza are
also the grandchildren of the late Zelda
Brooks and the late Estelle Tabak.
Attending West Hills Middle School
in Bloomfield Hills, Raquel made book
and toy donations to needy children
affiliated with various agencies and
felt this was her most meaningful
mitzvah project. Liza felt her most
significant project was her volunteer
work with Bloomfield Hills Schools
Safety Town program.

become a bar mitz-
vah at Temple Beth
El in Bloomfield
Witenoff
Township Saturday,
Sept. 29. He is the
son of Patricia Battersby and Stephen
Witenoff. His grandparents are Rose
and Sol Witenoff and the late Helen
and the late Chris Battersby.
Kevin is a student at Derby Middle
School in Birmingham. One of his
mitzvah projects involved working as
a volunteer at Yad Ezra kosher food
pantry in Berkley.

Alexandra Rose
Zatkin, daughter of
Laura Zatkin and
Steven Zatkin, will
celebrate her bat
mitzvah at Temple
Israel in West
Bloomfield Saturday,
Zatkin
Sept. 29. She is the
sister of Judith and
the grandchild of the late Mary and
the late George Vermeulen, the late
Judith and the late Richard Zatkin.
Alexandra attends Geisler Middle
School in West Bloomfield. She made
blankets and donated them to a wom-
en's homeless shelter and felt this was
a meaningful mitzvah experience.
