resistance and noncompliance.
That is followed by an epilogue,
which focuses on the therapist and
a list of resources for clinicians and
clients.
"Some of what Daitch says will
be helpful to lay people as well
as clinicians," says Alicia Tisdale,
PhD., a licensed psychologist in
West Bloomfield. "I've taken one
of Dr. Daitch's courses and I'm
impressed with the practical nature
of her tools.
The Toolbox offers a selection of
techniques with clear instructions
on how to teach each technique,
structure a session and use post-
hypnotic suggestions and rehearsal
to prepare clients to interrupt their
reactive patterns outside the office.
"Although one system doesn't
work for everyone, there's enough
good information in this book that
I can apply to some of my clients:'
Daitch said.
Daitch uses hypnosis as an effec-
tive way for individuals to regulate
their excessive emotions. Daitch
acknowledges, however, that not all
clinicians have qualified training
in hypnosis and, therefore, she has
provided practical and easy-to-
learn hypnotic tools for therapists.
Daitch has 25 years of clinical
experience and currently divides
her time between clinical practice,
supervision, consultation and
teaching. She is a faculty member
and approved consultant with
the American Society of Clinical
Hypnosis and a member of its
board of governors. She is also a
certified Imago relationship thera-
pist and has frequently presented
on utilizing clinical hypnosis in
relationship therapy. II
