Bill's Big Bang

Kennedy Elementary, Thompson
Middle School and Cranbrook Schools
graduate Bill Prady, 46, has been out
in Hollywood for some time now.
The Southfield native has been busy
building a career whose many credits
include stints as a Henson Associates
writer, writer-producer on ABC's
Dharma & Greg and co-executive pro-
ducer-writer on the WB's Gilmore Girls
(as part of a team that included his
former Southfield school chum Stan
Zimmerman).
Now, for the new fall TV season,
Prady is tackling a new project. He is
executive producer, with his partner
Chuck Lorre, of a new CBS comedy
called The Big Bang Theory.
Big Bang created by the Emmy
nominated Lorre (for his work as
co-creator and executive producer of
CBS's Two and a Half Men), is about
two brainiac best friends — Leonard
(Johnny Galecki, Roseanne) and
Sheldon (Jim Parsons, Judging Amy)
— who can tell you anything you

want to know about quantum physics.
But ask these guys about dealing with
everyday life and they're lost in the
cosmos.
They learn that scientific principles
don't always apply when they meet
their sexy new neighbor Penny (Kaley
Cuoco, 8 Simple Rules), a screenwriter/
waitress from the Midwest who also
happens to be newly single.
In its fall TV preview issue,
Entertainment Weekly notes that Prady
writes what he knows — though "the
former computer programmer has an
astrophysicist check his jargon!'
"My mother has always been dis-
tressed that I didn't finish college," the
Jewish exec producer told EW. "If you
can publish that an astrophysicist gave
me a solid B+ on the physics dialogue,
it would make her feel better!'
Emmy Award-winning director
James Burrows (Will & Grace) directed
Big Bang's pilot episode, which airs
on Sept. 24 during the show's regular
time slot, 8:30- 9 p.m. Mondays on
CBS. Li
