MGM Grand and Tribute boast new aces in the kitchen.

You might say he hit the jack-
pot ... Former Tribute restaurant
Executive Chef Don Yamauchi received
an offer he couldn't refuse in moving to
the MGM Grand Detroit to take over as
kitchen head of its two fine dining Michael
Mina restaurants ... Saltwater seafood
and Bourbon Steak traditional steakhouse,
targeted for opening this October ...
Wolfgang Puck Grille will round out MGM
Detroit's dining program.
New executive chef at Tribute, 12 Mile
east of Orchard Lake Road, Farmington
Hills, is Rich Travis, former chef at
L'Escargot in Chicago, executive chef at
Tapawingo in Ellsworth, and then wooed
to Latitude in Bay Harbor.
Also in the dining picture at MGM
Grand Detroit is Zoran Smolcic, former
popular maitre d' at the Birmingham
Townsend Hotel's fine Rugby Grill and
Zinc Brasserie, West Bloomfield ... Well-
liked Zoran will be assistant general man-
ager at Saltwater.
RESTAURANT NO. 12, the 11th named
"Andiamo" in the local Italian mini-chain,
will open in October at the former locale
of O'Charley's on Seven Mile between
1-275 and Haggerty, Northville ... The
lone non-Andiamo-named restaurant in
the group is Mesquite Creek in Clarkston,
also owned by Joe Vicari ... The new
Andiamo Livonia will be managed by Paul
Chetoskey, who has held that same post at
Andiamo West on Telegraph.
