L'Shanah Tovah! U shering in a sweet new year involves dozens and dozens of apples, at least for the Jewish Community Center of Washtenaw County's annual Apples and Honey event, a celebration that honors Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur, Sukkot and Simchat Torah. More than 700 participants gathered at the JCC on Sept. 9 to taste apples and honey, symbolic of a sweet new year. Children's activities included bounc- ers, games, shofar blowing, hair braiding, crafts, a petting zoo and pony rides. Clowns entertained guests with face painting and balloon animals.
