Bragging Rights

Ruach members celebrate Hadassah's many achievements.

A

fierce thunderstorm whipped across West Bloomfield Aug. 29,
but about 25 Ruach Hadassah members were cozy inside the
home of Judi Schram. The president of Hadassah's Greater
Detroit chapter brought together the group of young women for dinner
and the opportunity to get pumped up about the year ahead.
"They've already heard how wonderful Hadassah is," Schram said.
"I wanted to give them bragging rights because there's so much to brag
about."
Schram updated the group about Hadassah happenings across the
world, including the construction of a new 14-story patient tower at
Robin Schwartz
Hadassah Medical Center in Jerusalem, funded in part by a $75 million
Columnist
gift from Karen and Bill Davidson of Bloomfield Hills. The new tower
will be named in memory of Mr. Davidson's mother, Sarah Wetsman
Davidson. Schram also spoke with pride about Hadassah's recent four-star rating by Charity
Navigator, an independent nonprofit charity evaluator. Less than a quarter of the charities evalu-
ated are said to receive this highest rating.
"It's an incredibly multi-faceted organization',' Schram said."There's something for everyone from
community service to advocacy, women's health and education, and Zionism."
Spotted in the crowd at the Hadassah gathering were: Ruach president Randi Simko of
Farmington Hills; Wendy Kohlenberg, Jennifer Kopnick, Margo Lazar, Melissa Vainik, and
Michelle Kessler, all of West Bloomfield; Julie Phillips of Novi; Shellie Achtman of Walled Lake;
Marjorie Olson of White Lake; and Rowe Ruch of Southfield. I I
