ONE MORE FESTIVAL: Outdoor enthusiasts who can't get enough summer-
time entertainment and activities have yet another opportunity — the Plymouth
Community Fall Festival. Plymouth, for three days, will be filled with food booths
from 25 restaurants, carnival rides, craft sales, music performances and contests.
Vintage car buffs can bring their own vehicles or simply watch a parade of collected
autos. Fitness devotees are invited to join a 5K run along city streets. Kids will
find areas to try their talents at sports or art projects. The event runs noon-11 p.m.
Friday, Sept. 7; 7 a.m.-11 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 8; and 8 a.m.-6 p.m. Sunday, Sept.
9. Check the Web site www.plymouthfallfestival.com for a complete schedule and
directions, and watch for the pancake breakfast, chicken barbecue and spaghetti din-
ner sponsored by community organizations.

SEWING SENSATIONS: The world premiere of the opera Cyrano will feature
some colorful romantic costumes, but the costumes will have their own premiere
weeks before the singers step on stage. The outfits, designed by English artist John
Pascoe, will be shown 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 11, at Haberman Fabrics, 905 S. Main,
in Royal Oak. The event, A Nose for Design, will be
moderated by David DiChiera, general director of
the Michigan Opera Theatre and Cyrano composer,
and Suzanne Hanna, MOT costume director. There
also will be music, refreshments and prizes, includ-
ing tickets to see the new production, which tells
the story of Cyrano de Bergerac's poetic nature and
embarrassment at having a large nose. Performances
run Oct. 13-28 at the Detroit Opera House. $10-$15
for the costume-preview event. (248) 541-0010.
