Obituaries Obituaries from page 85 ETHEL STECKELIS, of Belleville, Wis., formerly of Detroit, died Aug. 23, 2007, after a brief stay at the Don and Marilyn Anderson Hospice Center in Madison, Wis. Steckelis She was born on April 7, 1911, the daughter of Maurice and Selma Manason. She graduated from what is now Wayne State University with a degree in elementary education. Mrs. Steckelis served in the United States military as a member of the Women's Army Corps during World War II; it was there she met her future hus- band, William Steckelis. They were mar- ried in Italy and honeymooned on the Isle of Capri. They were the parents of one son, Michael Steckelis of Belleville, Wis. Mrs. Steckelis was a longtime resident of Detroit and was a Detroit public school teacher. She resided for the past seven years at Coventry Village in Middleton, Wis. Mrs. Steckelis is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Lois Steckelis of Wisconsin; grandchildren, Mikaela and Alexandra Steckelis; niece, 96, Aileen Gelman of Royal Oak; Myones and Valdes families in New York; the Manason families in California; the Gelman and Ceresnie families in Michigan. She was the beloved wife of the late William Steckelis; sister of the late Don and the late Aaron Manason, the late Molly Manason, the late Dorothy and the late Bill Gelman.
