The American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC)
seeks Regional Synagogue Initiative Directors for
its Southern Pacific Office in Los Angeles and for its
Northeast office in New York. The successful candi-
dates will work with National & Regional staff in orga-
nizing rabbis and key congregational lay-leadership to
participate in pro-Israel political activism. Candidates
should demonstrate a passion for AIPAC's mission and
possess excellent written and oral communication
skills, including public speaking. Travel is required.

Great Lakes Assistant Director
This position reports locally to the Great Lakes Director and Nationally to the Senior Director of
Regional Development. The office for this position is located at 6735 Telegraph Road, Bloomfield
Hills, MI, and is supported by an administrative assistant.
The Great Lakes Region encompasses Detroit and Ann Arbor, Michigan, Cincinnati, Columbus
and Cleveland, Ohio as well as Toronto and Montreal, Canada.

• The successful candidate must be a proven generalist
in fund raising with a track record of having success-
fully participated in a broad-based development pro-
gram including individual, corporate and foundation
giving, special events, educational program develop-
ment and direct mail.
• Particularly, experience in the cultivation and solicita-
tion of foundation grants and creating large and me-
dium-size special events is key, as is experience with
developing and managing an individual major
gift program.
• Experience in fund development may have been
gained in any type of not-for-profit organization.
• The Assistant Director must be strategically-oriented
and sufficiently seasoned to "hit the deck running".

• He/she must possess a high energy level and be proac-
tive, creative, self-directed and results-oriented.
• The successful candidate must possess strong commu-
nication skills (both oral and written), management,
planning and organizational skills and have the per-
sonal style to work collegially with highly experienced
and enthusiastic colleagues and staff.
• Strong computer skills are required.
• Knowledge of the Detroit philanthropic community is
not required but preferred.
• It is essential that this individual possess the style,
stature, diplomatic and interpersonal skills to relate
well to and work effectively with the Board, staff,
donors, volunteers, and friends of JTS.
• Fire-in-the-belly is a must.

The Great Lakes Assistant Regional Director is responsible for strengthening the commitment and
enthusiasm of volunteers and donors by helping them understand the importance of their fundraising
efforts on behalf of JTS, while simultaneously being sensitive to the many challenges of working with
smaller Jewish communities.
