FOR ISRAEL AND THE JEWISH PEOPLE

Jewish film festival, says, "I'm real
excited about where SAJE is going."
Last spring, SAJE hosted a
"Coffee, Culture & Conversation"
program at the JCC Janice Charach
Epstein Gallery's exhibit, "A New
Class of Glass."
In July, a similar program was
centered on the gallery's "Art &
Remembrance" exhibit featuring
tapestries by a Holocaust survivor.
This summer featured four
weekly Torah classes at the JCC
in West Bloomfield and the Max
M. Fisher Federation Building in
Bloomfield Township.
At the end of April, SAJE repre-
sentatives met with the Michigan
Board of Rabbis to discuss how
the program was evolving and get
their ideas. A major suggestion
was to utilize the unique facilities
of the JCC and not duplicate edu-
cational offerings of Detroit area
synagogues, the Melton program
or Federation's Alliance for Jewish
Education.
"The rabbis were so gung-ho,"
said Pergament, and she is now
finalizing some new classes with
the West Bloomfield JCC's fitness
center. They may include spiritual-
ity yoga, a Jewish healing service in
the swimming pool and Torah on
treadmills.
SAJE is also planning to bring
in big-name Jewish speakers a few
times a year.
It will kick off its new season
Oct. 30 with Malcom Hoenlein,
executive vice chairman of the
Conference of Presidents of Major
American Jewish Orgainizations,
speaking at the JCC in West
Bloomfield.
Other speakers for 2007-08
include Rabbi Joseph Telushkin,
Ruth Messinger of the American
Jewish World Service, and Jewish
studies and Holocaust historian
Dr. Deborah Lipstadt of Emory

Benjamin Netanyahu was the 9th Prime Minister of Israel from 1996
to 1999. During his term, he implemented a policy that combined fight-

ing terror with advancement of the peace process. This time the number
of terror attacks drastically decreased and the foreign investments in
Israeli high-tech industry reached billions of dollars.
In 2002, Netanyahu returned to politics, first as Minister of Foreign
Affairs and then as Minister of Finance. His policies, praised by the US
administration, lowered unemployment and put an end to economic
decline in Israel.
Mr. Netanyahu received two degrees in architecture and business
management from MIT and Harvard University. He has written a num-
ber of books about terrorism, and is a brilliant and eloquent speaker
who lectures all over the world. Please join the ZOA for an evening of

of Hadassah, the ZOA and ORT and is a charter member of the Holocaust

ALIZA NIVY, born and raised in Israel, is the President of the Harbor Sales
Company, a successful trading company she established with her husband. Her
involvements include scholarships and academic research at the Hebrew University
of Jerusalem, IDF, the ZOA and Holocaust Memorial Center. She has written schol-
arly works such as "The World Reacts to the Holocaust" and the encyclopedic study
of Yehuda Halevy, and is involved in many philanthropic activities.
