STATEWIDE JEWISH OUTREACH COORDINATOR
The Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Detroit's Alliance for Jewish
Education has an immediate opening for a Statewide Jewish Outreach
Coordinator. The Coordinator will work in partnership with the Michigan
Jewish Conference and will report to the Director of the Alliance.
The Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Detroit's Alliance for Jewish
Education has an immediate opening for an Associate Director for
Professional Development who will assist the Director to advance a
bold Jewish education agenda in the community.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Travel to small Jewish communities throughout Michigan on a regular
basis to assess their Jewish needs and develop an action plan to
meet those needs.
• Provide learning opportunities, resources, training, support, needed
ritual items, and programming based on the expressed interests and
needs of the specific community.
• Develop a statewide outreach plan of visits, programs and events.
• Arrange for ritual items and rabbinic services to the extent possible.
• Develop a website for facilitating inter-community networking.
• Work on grant opportunities to further their Jewish communal agenda.
• Arrange conferences to bring communities together regionally and/or
statewide.
• Work with people of all ages and provide support from a distance,
as needed.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Establish the Federation's community education vision, strategies,
policies, programs and budgets together with lay leaders and
Director.
• Responsible for/oversight of the Alliance's Professional
Development portfolio:
o Build relationships with and develop professional development
opportunities for Supplementary School Teachers, (largely
based in congregations) and community Educational Directors.
o Create a master teacher's program.
• Expand educational resources in the community by networking with
synagogues, local agencies, and the Federation.
• Responsible for staffing lay committees.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
• Baccalaureate degree in Jewish Studies or education or equivalent.
• A master's degree in Jewish education strongly preferred.
• Well-rounded knowledge of Jewish life, texts, values, history, holidays,
and Israel
• A minimum of five (5) years experience in Jewish education related
field with demonstrated success in improving the quality and
outcome of Jewish education.
• A minimum of three (3) years administrative experience with a
track record of leadership and successful program administration.
