VELMA FRIEDMAN, 98, of West
Bloomfield, died Aug. 4, 2007.
She was very active with Temple
Beth El, its sisterhood and the
Beth Elders. She was a member of
temple for more than 75 years. Mrs.
Friedman was also active in the
National Council of Jewish Women
and was one of the original volun-
teers of Up and Out.
She is survived by daughters and
a son-in-law, Judith Friedman, Sally
and Martin Mayer; grandchildren,
Michael Mayer, Ruth and John
Murphy and Carrie Mayer; great-
grandchildren, Jacob Murphy and
Cali Mayer.
Mrs. Friedman was the beloved
wife of the late Conrad Friedman;
the loving sister of the late Ivor
and the late Vera Kahn, the late
Bernice and the late Jack Hopp,
the late Louise and the late George
Wayburn.
Interment at Clover Hill Park
Cemetery. Contributions may be

HELENE HITOW, 57, of Novi, died
July 31, 2007.
She is survived by her husband,
Richard Hitow; daughter, Stacey
Hitow of Novi; brothers-in-law and
sisters-in-law, Judith Friedman,
Dennis and Andrea Kennedy,
Sandi and Ron Feldman; loving
nieces and nephews, Deborah
Friedman, Kenneth and Sharon
Friedman, Kevin Friedman,
Zachary Friedman, Jacob Kennedy,
Benjamin Kennedy, Brian and Amy
Feldman; many loving friends.
Mrs. Hitow was the loving sister
of the late Bernard Friedman, the
late Karen Friedman.
