It's best not to be on the receiving end of one Dennis
Miller's rants — but when he does sound off about poli-
tics, social issues or absurdities in the world around us, it's
definitely fun to catch. More than 1,200 people enjoyed a
one-night-only performance by the Emmy Award–
winning comedian June 28 at the Detroit Opera House
during Detroit Live, a benefit for Jewish Vocational Service
(JVS) that raised more than $200,000. Addressing the
attendees, Sheri Wagner of
Birmingham, who chaired the
event with Mark Menuck, also
of Birmingham, said, "Thank
you on behalf of the nearly
27,000 people who've led more
meaningful and productive
lives because of you."
VIP ticket holders attended
a pre-glow party where they
got to mia and mingle with
Miller. "I love his humor," said
Mark Goodman of Franklin.
"I think he's spot on!" ❑
