A contemporary affair featuring a strolling dinner,
laughter and political commentary was held at the
Bloomfield Hills home of Rita and Dr. Stanley Levy to
help preserve an ancient civilization. The lively evening
raised $7,500 to benefit the Bloomfield Hills—based
Project Discovery, which provides grants to archae-
ologists and scholars in Armenia for research and
preservation. "Armenia is one of the earliest civiliza-

tions in the world," explained the program's president
COLUMNIST
and founder, Teryl Asher. "There's a medieval Jewish
cemetery there from the 1200s. There's a lot that has yet to be discovered."
About 100 people attended the June
9 event and were treated to tours of
the Levys' home, replete with sunroom,
sculpture garden, art and rare-book col-
lections. Political analyst and Wayne
State University journalism professor
Jack Lessenberry moderated a humorous
discussion between attorney Geoffrey
Fieger and WWJ-AM radio weather
personality Sonny Eliot about "the crazy
world we live in." 1=1
