He married the former Marilyn June Weinberger. Mr. Merdler was an electrical engineer for the U.S. government; he served in the Army during World War II. He was a member of the Downtown Synagogue in Detroit. Mr. Merdler is survived by his wife, Marilyn; daughters, Carol M. Deutsch, Barbara (Dr. John Gregory) Schultz; grandchildren, Kimberly Kay and Stephen Gregory. He was the son of the late John and the late Julia (Weiss) Merdler; brother of the late Louis, the late Henry, the late Victor, and the late Oscar.
