JTA reports that Mel Gibson,
skewered in the press last year
for his anti-Semitic raves after
an arrest for drunk driving, has
denied he is making a film about a
prominent Polish cleric with a his-
tory of anti-Semitism.
Last week Father Henryk
Jankowski said in an interview
with Poland's Dziennik daily that
he was in talks with Gibson about
a possible film. But when Gibson
representative Alan Nierob was
asked by the Forward newspaper
whether the report was true,
Nierob offered an emphatic no.
Jankowski, who came to promi-
nence for his role spearheading
strikes that ushered communism
out of Poland in the 1980s, said in
1997 that there was no place for
Jews in the Polish government. He
also condemned the Polish gov-
ernment's apology for the 1946
Kielce pogrom.

Doors Redux

Perry Farrell, the Jewish rocker
famous as the lead singer
of Jane's Addiction and the
founder of the
Lollapalooza rock
festival, is out
with a new CD,
Ultra Payloaded.
Backing him are
the members of
his new band,
Satellite Party.
Perry Farrell
The most
intriguing cut on the CD is
"Woman in the Window," a song
Farrell created by using part of
an unreleased song by the late
Jim Morrison, the leader of the
famous 1960s band the Doors. It
is Morrison you hear singing the
song's chorus.
This previously unknown
Morrison song was given to
Farrell by longtime Farrell friends
Jewish guitarist Robbie Krieger
and keyboardist Ray Manzarek,
the two surviving members of the
