She now divides her time between New York, France and Israel. An Israeli newspaper says she has been in Israel a lot recent- ly – since she has started dating an Israeli man. Her fifth solo album, simply titled Keren Ann, was released in May to very good reviews. Spektor, 27, is far better known. She has made many TV Regina appearances and Spektor her song, "Fidelity," got extensive media coverage in 2006 when more than 200,000 people, in a two-day period, viewed her accompanying video on YouTube. Born into a musical family, Spektor and her parents left the former Soviet Union and moved to the States in 1989. She went to yeshivahs in the Bronx and New Jersey but graduated from a public high school. It is hard to pigeonhole her: Her lyrics have allusions to literary classics, while her music incorpo- rates classical, pop and folk music elements. She cites Leonard Cohen and Bob Dylan as important influ- ences. One amusing sidelight: Spektor, who performed at St. Andrew's Hall in Detroit in October, just played the huge Bonnaroo music festival in Tennessee. She told the crowd, "The Russian Jew in me wants to make sure that everyone is drink- ing enough water and putting on sunscreen."
