Obituaries Obituaries are updated and archived on JNonline.us . Maintaining The Legacy W illiam "Bill" Kahn, 84, of Franklin, died June 7, 2007, after losing his battle with lung cancer. He was a mechanical engineer and owner of Albert Kahn and Associates. He was the nephew of the renowned archi- tect Albert Kahn. His father, Louis Kahn, Albert's youngest brother, became president of the firm after Albert's death. Mr. Kahn lived in the home designed by Albert Kahn and built by his parents over fiEk 80 years ago. The William Kahn property became a focal point in his life, a place where he grew up, entertained friends and raised his three children, Petra, Sandra (deceased) and Robert. Mr. Kahn served on the board of Junior Achievements for more than 15 years, supporting its educational goals. In addition, his passions were his home, his family and flying his airplane. He flew his family on numerous explorations throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico and the Virgin Islands. As the elder statesman for the Kahn family, he was the person the family looked to as the raconteur and chronicler of the family history. DR. MARVIN ADLER, 84, of Beverly Hills, died June 4, 2007. A surgical podia- trist, Dr. Adler was an Army veteran and served in the Philippines dur- ing World War II. He was a member for over 50 years of the American Podiatric Medical Association. Dr. Adler is survived by his chil- dren, Dr. Donald and Libby Adler of Bloomfield Hills, Dr. John and Marlene He and his wife, Ellen, supported many local, cultural institutions including the Detroit Institute of Arts, the University of Michigan Museum of Art and Michigan Opera Theater, as well as the Greening of Detroit. Together they collected art throughout their 58- year marriage and built an extensive collection of African Art. He was the consum- mate host and will be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor, dry wit and graciousness. He was a true gentleman. Mr. Kahn is survived by his wife, Ellen Kahn; daughter and son-in-law, Petra "Petie" Kahn and Robert Thompson of Virginia; son and daughter-in- law, Robert Louis Kahn and Carolyn Adams of New York; grandchil- dren, Derek Thompson and Kira Thompson, Sandra Kahn, Vitali Kahn; sister-in-law, Margaret Demant. He was the loving father of the late Sandra Lee Kahn. Interment at Beth El Memorial Park.
