to find out.
JN: What do you think of President
Bush?
JM: He's probably the most honor-
able man we've ever had in the White
House, but his presidency has not
been successful. There are many
things he has not handled well.
But that's still no reason for many
Democrats to be disrespectful and
keep calling him names.

in the Mideast?
JM: There have been some problems
in Lebanon and Gaza, but I'm hoping
that, in general, the old road map will
finally start to work for Israel.

JN: I'll let you get back to your lunch.
Anything else you want to say?
JM: I know you've interviewed me
before. Tell your boss at the Jewish
News that you're a much-improved
interviewer.

Hofstetter explains he had no
idea how hard it could be to keep
kosher for Passover outside New
York City until this year.
"I find it easier to fly across the
country than to clean my apart-
ment, so I usually use the holiday
as an excuse to visit my family
and get free meals," he says. "The
round trip costs $400, but my
mother's matzah brei is worth it."
However, this year he accepted
gigs in Scranton, Pa., Trenton, N.J.,
Dayton, Ohio, and Bay City, Mich.,
around Passover time — and didn't
bring enough kosher food to last
him.
Hofstetter knew he was in trouble
when he went to Abe's Kosher
Delicatessen in Scranton and saw a
sign that said, "Lenten Specials."
He continued: "Meijer

He finally found a safe kosher-
