will be an overview and introduction
to Jewish Detroit at 7 p.m. Thursday,
June 7, at the Max M. Fisher Federation
Building, 6735 Telegraph, Bloomfield
Township. Ernestine Schlant Brandley,
will discuss growing up in Germany
during and after the Holocaust at 7
p.m. Monday, June 11, at the Holocaust
Memorial Center in Farmington Hills.

Sign up children for the Summer
Reading Club for Kids, which runs June
10-Aug. 31 to encourage the reading
of books with Jewish content. The pro-
gram, sponsored by the Henry & Delia
Meyers Library at the West Bloomfield
JCC, gives prizes for those reading five

place 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 12, at the
Jewish Community Center in West
Bloomfield.
A panel will discuss civil rights,
including racial and economic ineq-
uity affecting Michigan women and
the Jewish community.
The panel will include Susan
Horowitz, Jay Kaplan, Michelle
Brown and State Sen. Gilda Jacobs,
D-Huntington Woods. Patti Aaron will
moderate. Co-chairs for the event are
Patti Aaron and Elaine Schonberger.

Read This Summer
The Henry & Delia Meyers Library,
located in the Jewish Community
Center in West Bloomfield, will host
two summer reading events. Programs
are open to the community at no
charge.
The Israeli Book Club will meet at 7
p.m. Thursday, June 14. This month's
book is Sarah Shiloh's No Gnomes
Will Appear. Facilitator will be Dalia
Shaham, who teaches Hebrew at
Temple Israel, West Bloomfield.
From June 10-Aug. 31, the library
will host the third annual Summer
Reading Club for Kids, for preschool
through high-school children.
Children read five books of Jewish
content and receive a reward. Forms
are available at the library.
