FIRST FEST: This year's waterfront fireworks (top), in celebration of Independence Day, illuminate a new festival — Detroit International River Days. The event, run- ning June 22-27 along Detroit's new RiverWalk, features family-friendly entertain- ment 11 a.m.-midnight Friday-Saturday and 10 a.m.-9 p.m. Sunday-Wednesday. The fireworks display ends the festival, which includes food stations, music, car celebrations and maritime activities. The Detroit Symphony Orchestra kicks off the entertainment at 5 p.m. Friday, and bands will perform daily in front of the Renaissance Center. The Chevy Racing Tour with NASCAR drivers Clint Bowyer and J.J. Yeley can be seen on Tuesday. There also will be a parade of decorated boats, dock jumping, a dog walk and a tugboat race.
