Make a World of Difference.

Thursday, May 17, 2007, political science and Jewish
history students in Israel's Sha'ar Ha Negev High
School were taking final exams when the morning's
quiet was shattered by a massive explosion—the
result of a Hamas-fired Qassam rocket. The nearby
classroom directly hit was, miraculously, empty at the
time, and none of the schools' children were injured.
Within hours, ORT America had contacted supporters
and working together with World ORT, had a response
team on the scene to assess immediate needs and
supply a mobile computer laboratory.

Once again, ORT came to the aid of students who need
it most—mobilizing its resources to supply the gifts of
learning, normalcy and hope—thanks to your donations.
It is with gratitude for your support that we share some
of the other ways your donation dollars provide the
chance for a better life in Israel and Latin America.

To help assure Israel's upcoming workforce of the
skills that will maintain a reputation for breakthrough
technological innovation, ORT has launched initiatives
designed to boost science and technology curriculum
in schools identified as in need.

In Israel, ORT America funds:

• "Science Journey',' a science and technology
intervention project, which supplies science,
electronics and computer labs to 30 at-risk
schools in Israel's war-torn border communities.

• Scholarships that allow Israeli teachers to attend a
yearly London seminar on bioscience and its implications
on curriculum and employment opportunities.

• The Tendler Scholarship in memory of ORT alumna
Sergeant Major Keren Tendler, a highly regarded
onboard flight mechanic who lost her life in battle
in 2006, to encourage women to go into the
male-dominated field of flight mechanics.

ORT educates 270,000 students in 56 countries annually.
In Latin America, ORT also combats economic hardship
and promotes Jewish identity with its state-of-the-art
educational institutions and critically needed social services.

In Argentina, ORT America funds:

• Two ORT technical high schools, two post-secondary
institutes of technology, and a teacher-training
college that educates students of all ages and
provides counseling, medical checkups, medication,
and help for those making aliyah.

• Construction of a third high school to accommodate
750 more students annually.

• ORT's Ariel Job Center, which provides job
placement, retraining and support services.

In Mexico, ORT America funds:

• ORT's new Media Technology Center in Mexico City,
increasing employment opportunities for Jewish
professionals and providing cutting-edge audio,
video and digital technology training.

• Technology and media education in Jewish schools,
focusing on the skills necessary to meet the
country's growing media industry.

In Uruguay, ORT America funds:

• ORT Uruguay University—the first private
institution to be given university status—enabling
its over 6,000 students to benefit from courses
including engineering, accounting, business,
journalism, communications and education.

It is your generosity that enables ORT America to
respond with emergency assistance to Israel's
schools in battle-ravaged areas. It is your commitment
to ORT America that allows us to address the individual
needs of students in Latin America and around the
globe through tutoring, enrichment and intervention
programs. Indeed, it is your donations to ORT America
