They invited more than a dozen Metro Detroit chefs and caterers to prepare delicious dishes for a patron event called Delightful Diversions, an evening of food, wine, fundraising and friends held at the brand-new Designs Unlimited Showroom in Birmingham. More than 130 people attended the May 14 event, which also doubled as a grand opening for the design- er kitchen retailer in its Robin new location. Schwartz "We had everything Columnist from hors d'oeuvres to desserts:' said Jain Lauter of West Bloomfield. She co-chaired the event with Nancy Josephson, also of West Bloomfield. "There were mushroom cana- pes, spinach pies, salads, chicken risotto, and pastas. Then we had cupcakes, choco- lates and individual key lime pies." The second annual event helped raise more than $30,000 for the NCJW's pro- grams aimed at improving the lives of local women, children and families. The volunteer organization oversees the area's only kosher Meals on Wheels program. They're also responsible for developing a handicapped accessible playground at Hess-Hathaway Park in Waterford where a new maze for the children will be dedi- cated in June.
