Jeff Ruby is one tough-looking
(6-foot-2-inches, 225 pounds)

15, when his father died. Ruby
worked as cook and then as a
hotel manager before opening
his first restaurant, in Cincinnati,
in 1981. It was a big hit, and
now Ruby owns a small chain
including a swank steakhouse in
Louisville, Ky.
O.J. Simpson came into Ruby's
Louisville place over Kentucky
Derby weekend.
Ruby told CNN: "I walked over
to [0.J.] – cigar in my hand and
fedora on my head – and I said,
'I'm not serving you.' He looked
dumbfounded, but he got up from

the table and said he understood,
showing, in my opinion, the first
class he has shown since the
murders.
"Then this blonde, I guess his
date, started to get in my face
in the middle of the restaurant,
saying, 'It's a free country,' and
I said, 'You're a blonde. You bet-
ter be careful he doesn't slit your
