I MAKE THIS... Front Lines SNAPSHOTS Online Auction The campus Hillel foundations of Metro Detroit (HMD) and at Michigan State and Eastern Michigan universities will share in the proceeds from an online auction that is running through May 31. The auction address is mihillels.cmarket.com . Bidders have 71 items to choose from, including Tapper's Diamonds & Fine Jewelry and Shirt Box gift certificates, jewelry and Detroit Tigers tickets. Miriam Starkman, director of HMD, said the idea has been used by Hillels around the country in recent years. Staffers Sheri Ginis at HMD and Jonathan Koenigsberg of MSU put together the fundraiser here. "Our corporate sponsorships absorbed the costs:' Starkman said, "so you can go online and see how much money we are going to make." Starkman, a U-M alum, claimed to be upset that one of the auction items is a football signed by Ohio State football coach Jim Tressel. She's also having fun watch- ing the bidding on the Shirt Box gift certificate go up $1 at a time. Because the high bids are listed for each item, visitors to the site may also recog- nize some of the bidders from their auction identities. - Alan Hitsky, associate editor ORT Commitment 1880 Society members were presented with a medal for their new com- mitment to ORT America during a Washington reception.
