The announcement came after the Nathan heirs voluntarily filed motions to dismiss their appeals in cases in which the museums' rightful ownership of the paintings had been challenged. The cases involved the heirs' claims, first brought in 2004, for a Paul Gauguin in the collec- tion of the TMA (Street Scene in Tahiti, 1891) and a Vincent van Gogh in the col- lection of the DIA (The Diggers, 1889). ,7 1, 411i Detroit Institute of Arts Director Graham W. J. Beal commented, "We are pleased "The Diggers" by that the issue has been resolved in the best Vincent van Gogh interest of the museums and the public." (1889) The paintings will remain on view at the museums with continued acknowledgment of Mrs. Nathan's prior ownership. - Keri Guten Cohen, story development editor Detroit and Oakland County. He also does a lot of work at Jewish community institutions like Tamarack Camps and Fleischman Residence. "Mrs. Reider couldn't believe it:' Goodman said.
