Life Cycles Examined
Temple Israel's Gesharim group will
hold an event for those who wish to
learn more about Judaism through
the topic of life-cycle events. Rabbi
S. Robert Morais, director of educa-
tion and lifelong learning for the
West Bloomfield temple, will speak
Thursday, May 17, at 7p.m.
Participants will examine compo-
nents of a Jewish wedding, beliefs and
practices surrounding death and ideas
on how Jews say goodbye to a loved
one through ritual and tradition.

Gesharim is open to the community,
free of charge. Participants include
those who have converted to Judaism,
those who are in the process of con-
version, those involved in an interfaith
relationship and those who simply
wish to learn more about Judaism. The
group meets monthly and provides
education, support and discussion
opportunities for participants.
