JCCouncil Slate
The Jewish Community Relations
Council has announced its slate
of officers and candidates to fill
board of directors seats. The
election will be held at Council's
annual meeting on June 7 at
the Max M. Fisher Federation
Building in Bloomfield Township.
Todd Mendel has been nomi-
nated as Council president. Vice
presidential candidates are Beth
Applebaum, Gail Katz and Judy
Rosenberg. Richard Nodel is
nominated as secretary and
Linda Finkel as treasurer.
Nominees slated for three-year
terms on the board are: James
Alexander, Greg Aronin, Ethan
Davidson, Marla Drutz, Adam
Forman, Carol Freedman, Dr.
Conrad Giles, Irma Glaser, Mich

HMC Trains Docents
The Zekelman Family Holocaust
Memorial Center will open
its annual training course for
individuals wishing to serve as
docents.
A 90-minute orientation ses-
sion for adults with daytime
hours to give will be held 10
a.m. Wednesday, June 6, at the
HMC's, 28123 Orchard Lake
Road, Farmington Hills. A sched-
ule of subsequent classes will be
decided by the group.
Judy Miller, HMC board mem-
ber and longtime coordinator of
the docent-training program, will
preside and interested adults will
learn to guide groups on walking
tours of the HMC while explain-
ing the exhibits and interpreting
the history and lessons of the
Holocaust.
Individuals who began the
training in prior years but who
were unable to complete the pro-
gram are invited to return. Pre-
registration is necessary for the
June 6 meeting. Application forms
may be obtained at the HMC or

A Taste For Camp?
Tamarack Camps will host its
annual Taste of Tamarack Day
Sunday, May 20. All first-time
Tamarack campers are invited
to get a "taste" of what to expect
during their overnight summer
camp experience.
Campers will load the bus-
ses at Adat Shalom Synagogue
in Farmington Hills and head
for a day at the Ortonville camp.
Campers will participate in activ-
ities led by trained counselors:
climbing towers, nature games,
pioneer skills, sports, snacks and
camp tours.
In addition to counselors, local
sixth-graders will volunteer and
buddy up with new campers.
The program is free. For reser-

Sisterhood Installation
Temple Israel Sisterhood's annual
installation will be 6:15 p.m.
Thursday, May 17.
Following dinner, there will
be a musical program featuring
Cantor Michael Smolash and
cantorial soloist Neil Michaels.
The installation is sponsored by
the Tobias Family Fund.
Elissa Kline will be installed
as president. Other executive
board officers include Barbara
Hechtman, Cherie Blazofsky;
Sharie Gladner and Julie Stern as
vice presidents; Denise Shuster
as treasurer; Deborah Schiffer
as corresponding secretary; Risa
Levinson as recording secre-
tary; Marci Zeman as financial
secretary; and Laurie Blinder as
immediate past president. Rabbi
Jennifer Tisdale will install the
sisterhood board.
